Victim’s Rights Alliance (VRA) Seminar
The Victim’s Rights Alliance hosted a seminar which discussed the implications of the Victim’s Rights’ Directive on victims of crime in Ireland. The event was attended by the Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Ní Dhálaigh. Speakers included: Chief Superintendent Anne Marie McMahon, Detective Chief Superintendent Padraig Kennedy, Kieran Fitzgerald Garda Ombudsman (GSOC), John Whelan AdVIC, Brian Hayes MEP and Maria McDonald BL, VRA.
The Victims Directive provides for minimum rights, supports and protections for all victims of crime. These rights must be translated into actual policies and practices for victims within out communities.
